HV & EHV Repair Joint Storage & Parts Management

Repair joints have long operational design life once installed, however long term storage of the joint kit prior to use requires consideration and management.

All repair joint kits contain resins and other components which have a defined shelf-life and need to be stored within specified conditions in order to ensure the product is available for use when required.

Many OWF operators have warehousing arrangements for their strategic O&M spare components, however systems may not be in place to track and action upon shelf-life sensitive components within kits such as repair joints.

Power CSL recognises this challenge and maintains a database of all shelf-life sensitive components within repair joint kits supplied. Using this information PCSL can provide the following support to its repair joint customers :

  • For MV & HV array cable repair joints held in Clients’ component warehouses PCSL offer an alert service whereby the nominated representative is advised of components nearing shelf-life limit, and if requested an offer for replacement components is provided. It should be noted that good two way communication is required to maintain this service (eg) Client updating PCSL with current representative contact details, and when a joint kit has been installed.
  • For HV & EHV repair joints PCSL can offer options for storage and shelf-life component replenishment as this becomes required. Such arrangements can be structured to individual Client requirements, and can be on an annual or longer term framework basis

Both approaches ensure that when needed the repair joint kits are immediately ready for use.
