Materials Testing Facility

Power CSL maintains a wide range of cable material test and analysis equipment.

Mechanical testing

  • 500 kN tensile tester (ideal for testing mechanical properties of cable copper or aluminium conductors)
  • Cable bend test apparatus

Thermal testing

  • Sample heating ovens and climatic chambers
  • Hot set test apparatus (for assessing cross-linking of materials)

Microscopy

  • Cable sample equipment (for preparing thin sections of cable insulation)
  • Various digital and optical high power microscopes
  • Profile projector (for measurement of cable insulation features)
