Island Link Subsea Cable Repair Joints

Mainland to Island subsea power cables are often installed through challenging seabed topography and tidal conditions, and in areas subject to heavy fishing activities. It is therefore the case that such cable links are susceptible to damage with the consequent interruption to island power supplies causing severe and costly local disruption.

Power CSL offers repair joint products for MV, HV and EHV subsea cable power links. The joints are similar in design to PCSL’s offshore wind product range with designs tailored to Clients’ individual requirements. As for the offshore wind product, the PCSL joint is rapid install, a key requirement in the event of a power outage.

Range taking joints can be provided to cover multiple island link subsea cables within the operator’s transmission and distribution network.

Product familiarisation courses can be offered to Client’s own offshore personnel or third party jointing technicians.
