Power CSL Scope

Design and supply of high voltage (132kV) joints for repair of UK offshore wind farm export cable. 

Background

Export cable repairs are complex in nature and joint installation time is a critical factor in weather window waiting time and repair duration. This is particularly the case during winter when limited weather windows are the norm. 

The PCSL range taking HV repair joint offers the benefit of rapid installation time compared to other products on the market. PCSL supplied the UK OFTO client with 2-off 132kV repair joint kits. In advance of the offshore works the HV jointers and optical fibre technicians completed a Product Familiarisation Course at PCSL’s workshop. The combination of repair joint design and offshore personnel who were familiar and confident in the installation method contributed to a speedy and successful repair of the OWF export cable.
