Workshop Simulations & trials

The installation of subsea cable accessories such as field repair joints is an expensive operation in terms of both equipment and vessel costs. In addition the installation window is often time restricted (due to sea and weather conditions). Therefore it is critical that all engineering and logistical issues are understood and addressed in advance of vessel mobilisation.

Power CSL offers a well equipped workshop for the purposes of pre-mobilisation trials on subsea cables and accessories. Facilities at the workshop based near London at Gravesend  include :-

- 5,000 sq ft usable floor area
- 40 ft height clearance
- Various hoists up to 1 tonne lifting capacity and 4 tonne FLT
- A range of heavy duty cable stands and jacks
- A full range of cable jointing tools and equipment
- A suite of high voltage test equipment
- Optical fibre splicing and test equipment
- Mechanical test laboratory (5N to 500kN tensile test capability)
- Hyperbaric chamber suitable for cable samples
- Environmental test chamber
- Office facilities for witnessing engineers

Power CSL can supply experienced high voltage cable jointers should these be required for fitting trials.
